Philharmonie Light 1
In 1962, NOVAPAX built the ceiling lights, designed by Prof. Günter Symmank, for the new Berlin Philharmonics building of Hans Scharoun. The asymmetric base is very characteristic for the “Philharmonie Light 1” whose pentagonal form mimics the outline of the building. Various pentagonal “mushrooms” made of polyamide are densely staggered and filter the light which Prof. Symmank liked to call ‘sunset light’.
The Philharmonics building was inaugurated in October 1963. Three years later, a variant of this ceiling light with the same form but with a better assembly technique is built for the new Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Berlin state library) which was also designed by Hans Scharoun.
Direction indicator
The first order was in 1955 to produce the plastic part of the direction indicator of the Volkswagen beetle. In 1997 NOVAPAX started to cooperate with BRUSS Dichtungstechnik by developing a crankshaft gasket made of plastic for Volkswagen. Later, another joint project with BRUSS was the production of valve hoods made of plastic. A third large group of products were oil sumps.
Media wall
For the Olympic Games in Munich 1972, a 300 m2 large light screen for advertising was installed at the intersection of Kurfürstendamm and Joachimstaler Strasse in Berlin. This media wall showed moving pictures in full color. NOVAPAX designed and manufactured reflectors, color plates and tiles.
